OBITUARY: Blake Jon Anderson

Blake Jon Anderson

Blake Jon Anderson

Blake Jon Anderson, 63, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021 in his home in Logandale, NV. He was born on April 8, 1958 in Gunnison, UT to Jackie Andrew Anderson and Bonnie Joan Jensen.

Blake was raised in the Rose Park area in the Salt Lake Valley. He was very close to his siblings. He and his siblings would help out at his father’s service station, and spend much of their time together. Blake sang in the school choir, and became the president of the Madrigals before graduating. He had a fascination with mechanics and engines, and began driving a tow truck for his father. He spent a lot of time in auto shop class, and could fix anything. He drove in stock car races for many years as well.

He began to work for Lake City International as a diesel mechanic and worked his way to head of the leasing department. During this time, he was set up on a blind date with Denna Kay Whitmore. They fell in love, and were married on November 19, 1983. They resided in the Salt Lake area and started their family. In June of 1990, they purchased Moapa Valley Freight and moved to Logandale, NV.

Blake loved being with his family, going on camping trips, riding ATV’s, and times at Bowman Reservoir. There were many family reunions to attend. Blake was very kind and always serving. There were many times a friend would call to ask for guidance with a malfunctioning vehicle, and Blake would solve the problem over the phone. Blake loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren, and had a special gift in knowing how to show them individually.

Blake loved his Heavenly Father and expressed that to his family often. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings. His family knew him by his countless acts of kindness whether it was providing Christmas for families, a set of tires, or hauling freight without cost.

Blake is survived by his wife, Denna Kay Anderson; his children: Rebecca (Eric) Stradling, Jeffrey (Erin) Anderson, Erika Rohm (Choi), Shanell (Devan) Stapley, Payden (Krista) Anderson, Cannon (Wendy) Anderson, Andrew Anderson, Branson Anderson, and Blakey Anderson; sixteen grandchildren with one on the way; his mother, Bonnie Joan Anderson; and his siblings, Mitzi (Dan) Bender, Robert (Lyn) Anderson, Victor (Janice) Anderson, and Brooks (Cheri) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father, Jackie Andrew Anderson.

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 20, 2021 6-8:00 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and on Monday, June 21, 2021 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Overton, NV, with the funeral starting at 11:00 a.m., and interment to follow at the Logandale Cemetery.

A Live feed of the service will be broadcast on the Blake Jon Anderson Memorial Facebook Group.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
