OBITUARY: Kent Fenton Perkins

Kent Fenton Perkins

Kent Perkins

On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Kent Fenton Perkins passed away at his home in Overton, NV at fifty-two years old. He was born on July 29, 1969 in St. George, UT to Jenifer and Murray Perkins of Overton, NV.

With the exception of a few short stints in Las Vegas, Kent spent most of his life living in Overton on the family homestead, affectionately known as the Perkins Patch. Kent had one son, Zachary Kent Perkins, and although he was only able to spend a short time together with his son, Zachary always held the biggest portion of Kent’s heart.

Kent was a carpenter, a heavy equipment operator, and even spent numerous years working at the Overton Beach Marina. He was always the man to have around as he was a jack-of-all-trades. There was not anything he couldn’t do.

Kent was an avid outdoorsman; he loved camping, hunting, fishing, rock hounding, astronomy, anything 4-wheel drive, and water sports. He had a love for the desert and the mountains, it didn’t matter where he was as long as it was outside. Kent loved to read books, he was especially interested in military aircraft and aircraft in general. You could point to a plane in the sky and he would be able to tell you what it was. His love for aircraft and anything that would fly also meant that kites and drones were a fond hobby.

Kent had many friends, and if you were lucky, you would be chosen family. However, Kent had a way with making everyone feel like chosen family. He was witty and funny, and he could be quite the prankster. You would always walk away from Kent a happier person.

Kent is survived by his dad, Murray Lewis Perkins; his two sisters; Kristen Kaye Perkins and Kandyce (Jared) Dove; his son, Zachary Kent Perkins; six nieces and nephews; Hunter, Kaleb, Gage, Amanda, Robert, and Anelle; and his great nephew and niece, Aiden and Gemma. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jenifer Kay Perkins.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hinckley Chapel in Logandale. Interment followed at the St. Thomas Cemetery.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.

I was so sad to hear about this. I haven’t seen my Perkins cousins in way too many years, but I have such great memories of all the time we spent on the property, running wild…and especially great memories of adventures and mischief led by Kent. One particularly great memory is how he would torment us by leading us back from wherever we’re been roaming by shortcutting through the cemetery…then telling us scary stories to make us run through, afraid for our very lives! He’ll always be that fun, mischievous kid in my memory. Much love to all of his family and friends.

My dear friends of the Murray perkins family, I can’t tell you how sorry I am for your loss.
Kent is one of the best friends I have ever had, my most treasured memories comes from the patch (AKA-HOME). Thank you for those memories, thank you for sharing your children not only with me but with every single person that has had the opportunity to know them, because of Kent my life will never be the same, I will forever hold and Cherish every single moment I was blessed to be able to spend with him and every opportunity I was able to get to know him, he more than impacted my heart and my soul and forever I will be greatfull and blessed.
I pray for your family the good Lord watches over you and brings you comfort and peace. He is in a beautiful place, is soul is at peace, he is with his friends and most important, his mother, I pray that brings you comfort.
