A new business that brings shockingly good service has found steady success in the Moapa and Virgin Valleys. Vance’s Electric officially opened its doors for service in April 2021 by Logandale residents Mike and Melissa Vance.

“I always wanted to do this,” said Mike Vance. “I have been saying it for a while and we finally did it.”
Vance’s Electric is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. The company offers full services for residential, commercial, and industrial. They also offer service for low voltage needs.
“We mainly deal with medium voltage (120 V to 277 V) but we can do it all,” said Mike.

Mike Vance has been doing electrical work for 18 years. He worked for Bombard Electric in Las Vegas before doing his own thing. Bombard Electric is one of the biggest contractors for electrical services in Nevada. They mainly do business and commercial services where they do such major projects as Resorts World.

Vance started his electrical training through trade school and apprenticeships with some classes from College of Southern Nevada.

Mike’s wife, Melissa Vance, on the other hand has experience in Human Resources and Office Administration. She was a Project Manager for 15 years for Exhibit House Booths, designing booth set-ups for conventions and seminars in Las Vegas.

“It was a fun job, but the ultimate goal was something that works best for us and for our family,” said Melissa.

Mike was raised as an Air Force “military brat” and resided in multiple states. He was born in New Mexico and then moved to Florida when he was still young. After that the family moved to Utah, back to New Mexico, and finally to Nevada.

Mike moved to Moapa Valley in 2013 after dating Melissa who already lived out here. Melissa had followed her parents out here in 2009. She was born and raised in Las Vegas.

Melissa Vance handles the paperwork, finances, scheduling and more for the business. Mike does the actual electrical work on site.

In addition to usual electrical work, Vance’s Electric will order and install all kinds of lighting fixtures, acting in accordance directly to what the customer wants.

“We do a little bit of interior decorating so to say,” said Melissa. “We are a full service business ready to come and supply whatever needs customers have pertaining to electricity.”

In their spare time, Mike and Melissa love doing outdoor recreation such as OHVing, camping, fishing, and more. They also played softball. Mike has helped coach T-Ball for Parks and Recreation. They have four kids, ages 6, 10, 12, 14; two boys and two girls.

They have goals of building the business up, hiring an apprentice within the next couple of months, and providing full service to the communities of Moapa Valley, Virgin Valley and Las Vegas.

“The reception has been good,” Melissa said. We have had more work than we expected. However, we are focusing more on the present as the business is still in its infancy stage.”

Melissa expressed appreciation for all the local help and support they have received.
“We just really want to thank everyone for their help in getting the business going,” she said. “We especially want to mention Xtreme Stitch, Cappalappa, Karen Alsum, and more. Thank you everyone!”
