The Pirate’s Landing restaurant in Logandale has taken on a new Captain. The pizza shop has had a switch of ownership which officially took place on August 8. Danielle Holliday bought the business from previous owners Eldon and Renee Wittig who have gone into retirement.

Holliday was excited about the future of the place when The Progress interviewed her last week.
“It worked out so perfectly and I cannot be more happy to be taking over this amazing business,” Holliday said.

She briefly related what she called a “miracle” of timing in the recent purchase, as well as the surrendipitous story of how she came to be here in Moapa Valley.

“I came to visit family and I saw the display of support that the community had for the graduates through a parade,” said Holliday. “And I said this is where I want my kids and grandkids to be. I wanted them to be raised here.”

She relayed how she had noticed the lackluster life in Las Vegas and the dangers that have grown exponentially in the city, especially since the pandemic.

“This community showed to me how incredible of a place itis for families and a great place to live,” said Holliday. “I had to move here and I wanted to help the place by providing a needed business, employment and more.”

Holliday said that she was driving through the community and saw that the Pirate’s Landing was for sale. “I went to Foremost Realty immediately and talked to Janet (Marshall),” she said. “That resulted in this amazing journey.”

Holliday may be the new captain of Pirate’s Landing, but she is not new to Moapa Valley. She used to visit while growing up in Las Vegas. Her Aunt Birdy Perkins and other family members live out here. Perkins’ family makes up one of the longest running pioneer families in the Moapa Valley.

But Holliday is Vegas-born and bred. She graduated Rancho High School, in a neighborhood that was notorious at the time for street gang problems.

After graduating, Holliday went through life finding success in business and always emphasized the importance of family. This led to the main reason for moving to Moapa Valley and taking over the pizzeria.

“To help with the transition of the new ownership,” stated Holliday, “we have kept pretty much the same staff, and menu. And the Wittigs will be helping teach me about the business.”
Holliday’s daughter Gia will be heading up managerial duties at the restaurant.

Though the eatery will keep the same menu, there will be one big change coming in the near future: the restaurant’s operating hours. Recently, Pirate’s Landing has only been open from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.

“We will be expanding to the place being open for lunch and definitely open on Wednesdays again,” said Holliday.

Though the menu remains unchanged at the moment, Holliday does plan on expanding to include more gourmet pizzas once they get settled in.
“It might be a while, but eventually we will add more on the menu,” explained Danielle.

The main goal right now, thought, is to have consistency in good service, good food, and good times at the iconic Pirate-themed pizza restaurant.

“I am anchored in this business and community,” said Holliday. “I want generations to enjoy this business and to work here. I am not going away!”

The business, located at 3113 Moapa Valley Blvd at the corner of Liston Ave., is looking at starting a new schedule of being open for lunch soon.
