Members of the two Rotary clubs of Mesquite gathered around their latest community effort to beautify their city.
The two clubs teamed up to pay to wrap one of the local utility boxes in an original, colorful artwork. The wrap was part of a n ongoing beautification project being coordinated by the Mesquite Public Arts Commission (MPAC).
The Commission wrote a state grant to pay for a number of the wraps. But the idea was so popular that many other boxes were added to the project through private donations from local businesses and organizations. The Rotarians loved the idea and decided to adopt one of the boxes as a two-club effort.
In addition to the colorful artwork, the wrap indicates that the Rotary Club was the donor with the Rotary logo included in the graphic.
The Sunrise Rotary Club and the Rotary of Mesquite club often join together in community projects.
Members of both clubs recently got together at the box, located near Walgreens on Sandhill Blvd., to shoot photos of them with the box that they adopted.
“Our photo shoot was brief, but fun,” said Rotary Club of Mesquite President Linda Gault. “Rotary is happy to help on community projects like this one.”
The Sunrise Club will be holding a book sale at the Mesquite Library on Saturday, September 11, from 8am-1pm. The money made from the book sale goes to Mesquite Reads Program, and effort that partners Rotary with the Eureka Resort to furnish books to the local children.
The Sunrise Rotary Club meets on Thursday mornings at 7:30 in at the CNS Campus, meeting room 1.
The Noon Rotary Club of Mesquite meets on Tuesdays 12 noon in the Mesquite Library community Room.
Both Clubs are encouraging anyone who would like to make a difference in the community and around the globe to drop in to either or both meetings, see where you fit in. Make new friends that believe in service above self.
