LETTER: Stop the blind spending!

I know it is hard to believe, but we are being lied to. The tax increase, which is the biggest in our country’s history, “will only affect the rich and big business”.

Here are some facts: current U.S. debt: $28.77 trillion! Current spending: $6.85 trillion. Current revenues: 3.85 trillion.

That shows that we are already adding $3 trillion in debt without adding any of the current bills. Another way to look at it, we would have to double the taxes on everyone just to cover what we are already spending. To this is added a proposal for another $5-6 trillion of spending. Actual Federal spending is over $7 trillion. We are being told that they need to spend $3.5 trillion more. and by just raising taxes on those with incomes over $400,000, and large businesses, it will pay for itself.

When the taxes were lowered it allowed the US to be more competitive with other countries. It allowed companies to bring jobs back to America. Jobs were created, the economy was booming. If you raise business taxes, companies will either raise their prices (it is called inflation) and/or send jobs out of the country. Both of these are bad for us and the economy.

The President plans to pay for thousands of jobs for the IRS to audit and collect taxes. They already have people in place to do this. Adding government jobs is not like adding jobs in other businesses. Government jobs last forever. They also are paid for by, …more taxes!

In the same speech the President said the IRS will be able to access any checking account that has a balance of $600 or more. How many people making over $400,000 a year have $600 in their account? It is just a way of letting the government get more control over all of us.

The balance of the bill is just another big giveaway. Among the giveaways is giving amnesty to up to 20 million illegal immigrants. Many of these will start collecting benefits that are supposedly going to American citizens. More importantly for the socialists, they will be able to legally vote.

They used to have to find the funding for any bills they would propose. No longer. Nowadays, they start a bill with an amount that they do not bother to calculate how much is really needed. They have passed recent bills for trillions of dollars and there are still billions from those bills that have not been spent as allocated. They are just dumping billions into states that have no associated need for the funds.

In the meantime the debt keeps growing and there is no money to pay it off. Currently the interest on the debt is over $405 billion. That means, if we paid $1.11 billion a day, we would just cover the interest.

What they have done in the last seven months has caused inflation like we have not seen in decades. Because of inflation, it is likely we will be paying a higher interest on our debt.

Raising taxes on the rich will actually have a negative effect on many states. California is a prime example. Their taxes are so high that they have had over 180,000 people leave the state. New York is seeing a similar loss of their wealthy citizens.

I urge everyone to call or write your senators and representatives and ask them to put a stop to this blind spending. If it does not stop, the government will continue to gain control of everything in our lives.

The last time we were under government control there was a revolution. Perhaps that is why they want to gather all your guns. They do not want history to repeat.
