Mesquite Gaming hosted its 6th annual Community Health Fair on Friday, Sept. 24, in the Virgin River Event Tent. The Fair drew countless visitors eager to collect information on various health-related issues. The six-hour event gave the public time to visit various booths and talk with providers without waiting in long lines.

This annual event had to be canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But it came back bigger than ever this year with over fifty providers offering a variety of health screenings, eye care and professional services to encourage attendees to make positive lifestyle changes.

There were drawings held every 15 minutes with prizes that donated by the vendors at the event. Everyone had a chance to spin a colorful wheel to win an additional prize. Bill Ennis Director of the Salvation Army was in attendance handing out prizes to the winners.

Most providers had health related novelties to hand out at their tables. So everyone went home with a bag of goodies.

The Virgin River Casino provided a table with yummy confections for those who wished to partake.
“The flow of patrons has been steady, but not as many as past years,” said Jessica Powel at the Salvation Army booth. This is a good event, there are plenty of good resources here. “

Mesquite Gaming Director of Benefits said, “Our motto is “Helping you live longer, healthier, and better. Our event gets better each year.”

Walgreen’s Pharmacy personnel were there giving flu shots. By 1 pm they had administered about sixty shots.

Inside the casino in a separate room, Vitalant was holding a blood donations drive, where walk-ins were welcome.

Feedback from the community was positive about the event. “I thought the health fair was great!” said Mesquite resident Debbie Williams. “I gathered a lot of new information, about new doctors in town and different health services.”

Sun City resident Robert Elder said, “This is my second time to attend this event. It is filled with good information and keeps one updated on local medical care.”

Exhibitors were also pleased with how the event went. “This is our first year here and we plan to come back,” said Cosmopolitan Dental office manager Candice Sonny. “This kind of event is good for the public as well as the businesses. “

The Richardson Eye Clinic and Precision Eye Care booths seemed to be generating heavy traffic with high demand shown for their services.

Dr Joyce Hunt Brown, The Hope Doctor, was there in person promoting her Stress and Grief Relief. She is always willing to share her own survivor story.
