MV Car Show To Be Held This Weekend

By NICK YAMASHITA

The Progress

The Moapa Valley Car and Motorcycle Show will be held on Saturday at the Old Logandale School. Admission is free for spectators.

The Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual Moapa Valley Car and Motorcycle Show on Saturday, October 16 at the Old Logandale School. The show will be held outside on the lawn and in the parking lot at 3011 N Moapa Valley Blvd starting at 7:00 am, bright and early.

The competition classes have been redone with a newer method of choosing the best in the show. Best of Show will now be selected by the judges as well as a People’s Choice Champion. Each class is decided this year by the Year of the Vehicle and whether it is “Stock” or “Modified”.

There is even a new special award to be presented in memory of the late Dan Bailey, an avid Classic Car Collector and former member of the Moapa Valley community. “The Dan Bailey Rat Rod Award” will be presented to the vehicle that best signifies a “Rat Rod” or custom car with an intentional worn-down, unfinished look. Rat Rods have recently had a resurgence in classic car collecting and custom building. Rat Rods usually consist of models from the 1940’s, 1950’s, and early 1960’s. Dan Bailey had a couple of Rat Rods which he proudly displayed every year at this show.

The event will get an early kick-off on Friday night with an informal Cruise and Park through downtown Overton from 5-7 pm. Entrants in the Car and Motorcycle Show are invited to take in the restaurants and the sights of Moapa Valley, as well as the Friday Night Lights of the MVHS Homecoming game.

Besides having the intricately glamorous classic vehicles on display, there will also be live music, food, and more available. Local food vendors will be available and other vendors will be inside the Old Logandale School building selling their products. The Indoors Vendors will start at 8 am.

The entry fee is $25 for 1st vehicle if pre-registered with any additional vehicles at $20 each. If entered on the day of the event, it is $35 for the 1st vehicle and $20 for each additional vehicle thereafter.

Vehicle registration includes a goody bag including a dash plaque, T-shirt, goodies and raffle tickets for the raffle of prizes that were donated by multiple businesses within Southern Nevada and Southern Utah.

There will also be a Kid’s Corner for the kids to play and have fun.

An Auto Parts Swap Meet will be available for all those who would like to sell any auto parts and yard sale auto items at only $5 fee to sell or trade parts. This will allow people to come and find parts they need or parts they have been on a treasure hunt for.

The Car Show is admission free for all spectators.
