The Progress
The Rotary Club of Mesquite held its annual Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the Mesquite Recreation Center.
The Rotarians had lined up a full schedule of donors for the event. They had a table set up outside the donor room to introduce the club to the donors and the recreation center guests.
Martha Parmentier, said she is a regular blood donor. She saw the Rotary sign for the drive and decided to sign up.
“Giving blood is the right thing to do,” said blood donor Roy Davis. “I donate on a regular basis.”
Blood drive coordinator Karen Fielding said that she was pleased with how the event went off. “This year’s Mesquite Rotary Club-sponsored Blood Drive was amazing!” Fielding said. “I appreciate all the donors that donated and the willingness to share this life-saving gift.”
Fielding expressed appreciation to the City of Mesquite Athletic & Leisure Services Department for assisting with the drive.
“This year our goal was 32 units and we collected 39 units,” Fielding said. “That is what I call community support. “
