The Progress
The Moapa Valley High School Wrestling team is hosting a new fundraiser in preparation for the upcoming season. The first annual Cornhole Tournament will be on Saturday, October 30 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be prizes awarded to the first, second, and third-place teams. The event will be held at the Jeff Keel Stadium at MVHS.
“It’s going to be lots of fun,” said Head Coach Steve Katich. “Come out and support us.”
The tournament is to help the team with some financial needs. The cost to participate in this event is $20 per team if you pre-register, or $30 if registration is done on the day of the event. Teams may include two players. The teams will be seeded randomly and done in a bracket tournament play.
“We going to shoot for raising about $2,000,” said Katich. “But it is the first year of this fundraiser, so we will see how it goes.”
The tournament will also have available signup and registrations for youth wrestling. The Youth Wrestling table will have information on the upcoming season, ages, costs, and more. There will also be a few other recreational things and tables available. Lots of stuff is still being put together, but they summed up they will be ready for the event.
