A sea of goblins, zombies, princesses, warriors, cheerleaders and an array of other characters took over the playground at JL Bowler Elementary School in Bunkerville on Wednesday, Oct. 27. They were all ready to engage in fun activities such as laser tag, football toss and monster bowl. It was the school’s Fall Festival event sponsored by the JL Bowoler Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

The Fall Festival has a long history. It has been an annual event since the school was built in 1997.
The festival is the major fundraising event for the Bowler PTO. The funds collected at the event all stay at the JL Bowler school to help with student programs.

Kids in attendance were dressed in full Halloween costumes. They were able to participate in several Halloween-themed “carnival games” such as the bean bag toss, football toss, cake walk, duck pond, candy corn toss, ring toss, monster bowl and good old fashioned face painting.

There was also a haunted house, a game of laser tag, a fun fortune teller and traditional carnival food such as hotdogs, nachos, snow cones and pretzels.

A Scholastic Book Fair was also going on in one area, where families could purchase books, posters, pencils and other items. There were several families participating in the book fair and it was a perfect setting for the schools playground to have in the midst of all the fun and games.

The evening was warm and as the sun was setting several agencies such as Mesquite PD SRO, Las Vegas Metro, and Clark County Fire Department Bunkerville Station were on hand giving out candy and treats to the youngsters.

The night was a huge success and JL Bowler PTO did an excellent job planning and bringing the event to life. It was well attended and as I stood by a group of kids waiting to play a game, the smile on one of the little boys face and his comment of “I am sure glad we got to have fall festival again this year, I really missed it last year” said it all.
