MV Chamber Lunch Focuses On Effective Branding/Marketing

By VERNON ROBISON

The Progress

Members of the Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce learned about ways to maximize their business websites and increase social media presence during a monthly membership meeting held on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at the Old Overton Gym.

The guest speaker at the luncheon event was Dustin Berg from Mesquite Branding, a new graphics and web development firm now serving small businessses in the communities of the Moapa and Virgin valleys.

Berg said that he and his wife, Jessica, had relocated to the Mesquite area about a year ago from his hometown of Yakima, Washington.

While in Yakima, Berg had built up a similar advertising/marketing firm, beginning as a small side business to become major ‘go-to’ agency for local businesses. The company, called Yakima Branding, was voted the Best Ad Agency in Yakima in the years 2019 and 2020.

Berg recently sold Yakima Branding to a larger firm based in Silicon Valley, and the Bergs moved to Mesquite seeking a change in scenery.
“A lot of our success (with Yakima Branding) was because of our focus on serving small businesses,” Berg said at last week’s meeting. “We have kept that same focus in opening here. We have a lot of resources and partners, both here in Mesquite, and across the country, to help your small businesses. There is really no job that is too large, or too small for what we do.”

Berg said that branding for business is more than just developing a logo. Rather it is more about creating consistency in messaging across every media used for marketing.

“Branding is the process of creating a strong, positive perception of a company, its products or services, in the customer’s mind,” Berg said. “It combines elements like logo, design, mission statement and a consistent theme throughout all marketing communications. It helps companies differentiate themselves from their competitors and build a loyal customer base.”

Berg explained that Mesquite Branding offers a broad range of services to business clients. These include logo, graphic design, printing needs, photography and video services.

But even more importantly includes web development and social media support services. Berg has certifications with Google and with Facebook. These can help businesses to maximize their marketing presence online.

“There are little things that can be done in developing a website or a Facebook page that will make big differences in your results,” Berg said. “The technology moves quickly and a lot of small business owners don’t have time to keep up with all of that. But we stay up to date all the time and can help you with getting the best results.”

Berg said that the company had already seen significant success in working with a number of local small businesses. In Overton he has been working with Sugar and Judy Metz to completely retool the old Sugars Homeplate website to become a robust new auction site for their large collection of sports memorabilia. That site is set to launch within the next week or two, he said.

Mesquite Branding is also working with Pack CPA in Overton to update and beef up their online presence, Berg said.

Other area businesses that Berg has worked with include Mesquite Tile and Flooring, Western Tri-State Equipment, Desert Sky Medical and more.
