Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like “Pink Christmas”

By KRISTI TAUSINGA

The Progress

The annual Pink Christmas fundraiser event will take place on Saturday, December 11 at Scotty’s Bar and Grill at the Falcon Ridge Golf Course clubhouse in Mesquite. The event starts at 5:00 pm with a social hour until 6:00 and then music and food from 6:00-8:00. From 8:00 to 8:30 will be the huge Pink Christmas raffle.

Admission to the event will be $10.00 per person which provides attendees access to live music, great food and good company.

The Pink Christmas tradition was first started in Utah in 2013 by Rachel Torres and Joy Coates. These two came together to help a friend, Lori Myers, who had just been diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer.

The community rallied together at the event, and raised funds that would be given to Lori to benefit her and her family for Christmas.

After seeing how much it helped Lori and her family, this became an annual event to help other cancer sufferers.

Last year a group of local women brought this event to Mesquite. The community rallied together and raised approximately $12,000 which was given to Diana Knight and Vincent Bogarian, to use for their families. It was such a success that the event is happening again this year.

Three local recipients have been chosen as beneficiaries including Anita Burton, Shaquel Cannon and Wende Wolfe-Killinger. These recipients will feel the true meaning of Christmas when they are presented with a part of the money raised. All of the funds raised will go to help the three recipients.

Donations are still being accepted using either Venmo or PayPal. For donations through Venmo search for @pinkchristmas. Please specify that the money should go to the Nevada event. For PayPal search for “fightlikeagirlut” and again, please specify the Nevada event.

Raffle tickets may be purchased at the event or by contacting Kirsten Pearson at 702-279-2530 or Lori Helms at 920-217-1159. Tickets are $10.00 for 5 tickets, $20.00 for 15 tickets or $40.00 for 40 tickets.

For more information contact Pearson, Helms or visit the event Facebook page “Pink Christmas Nevada 2021.”
