Clyde Ver Perkins

Clyde Ver Perkins

Clyde Ver Perkins passed away November 15, 2021 in Prattville, AL. He was born October 11, 1946 in Las Vegas, NV to Woodruff Ver Perkins and Norma Ellen (Shurtliff) Perkins.

Clyde spent his early years living in Overton, Warm Springs, Glendale and Bunkerville, NV. When he was born his parents owned a dairy in Warm Spring, Moapa Valley area. Woodruff and his brother Oran along with their parents had bought the dairy with Woodruff’s back pay from WW2.

Clyde had deep roots in Moapa Valley; the Perkins clan settled in the 1880s and the Shurtliff’s not long after. Clyde and his family lived in Arizona, on the Navajo reservation for several years during his early teen years. His dad was superintendent for Wells and Stewart Construction. They built many roads in AZ.

Clyde joined the Navy when he was old enough, serving on the USS Coontz during the Viet Nam war. He was deployed to the Viet Nam theater where he served with honor. His chosen career allowed him to see the world. He lived and worked in South Korea, Qatar and Naples, Italy. His young family often went with him. Clyde and his wife Brenda were able to explore Africa, Italy and many countries in this part of the world. He loved history. Clyde and Brenda were married in the Union of South Africa.

He loved the desert and mountains of Nevada. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He was a ‘reverse snowbird’. He would come home to Southern Nevada in the summer (he loved the heat), and go to the home he shared with Brenda in the winter.

He was a computer genius. He built his own computer and taught family members how to build their computers. He was very intelligent and loved a good debate.

Clyde is survived by three sisters: Trudy (Don) Heath of Overton, Cheryl (Earl) Moyer, and Eileen Russell; his wife Brenda of Prattville, AL along with his much loved step-children; his children: Andrew of PA, Randy (Tina) of AL, Marissa (Rick) of NE, and Iain (Gina) of Las Vegas, NV. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by his many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Michael.

Clyde was cremated and his ashes will be scattered on his favorite mountain in Nevada.
