Myrtle Elizabeth Kellar

Myrtle Elizabeth Kellar went home on November 23, 2021 to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born in Clinton, Iowa on October 18, 1942 to Ernest & Arretta Green. She was the 7th of 9 children.

On October 16, 1988 Myrtle married Clarence Kellar in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. They moved to Moapa, Nevada in March of 1991 because they had “fallen in love with the area.”

Myrtle joined the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary in 1993, becoming Vice President and eventually the President.

During the years of 1994 to 2013, Myrtle became a coordinator for the Toys for Tots program in the Moapa & Virgin Valleys of Nevada. While helping to provide toys for hundreds of kids each year she also maintained employment with the Oasis, Virgin River, and Glendale Service Centers.

Myrtle is survived by her sisters: Delores Derby of LeClaire, Iowa, Vilot (Robert) Kantner of Tucson Arizona, and Mary Ellen (Charles) Hooper of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Patrick (Julie) Preston of Centerline, Michigan, and daughter Loretta Carr of Warren, Michigan; grandchildren: Patrick Preston Jr (Cristie) of Eastpointe, MI, Brandon Kellar of Las Vegas, NV, Jonathon Preston of Warren, MI, and Serenity Quesnelle (Andrew) of St. Clair Shores, MI; great grandchildren: Jonathon Preston Jr., Chloe Strum, Saige Preston, DaVarian Keller, and Bentley Call; honorary grandsons Liam & Kendric; 4 nieces and 14 nephews; along with a host of family and friends. Her husband, daughter, brother & sisters preceded her in death.

Services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Latter-day Saints 16965 Twelve Mile Rd., Roseville, Michigan 48066.

A second service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Latter-day Saints, 1420 Barlow Ave., Moapa, NV, 89025.
