Gault Appointed To Governor’s Workforce Development Board

George Gault

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, has appointed Mesquite City Councilman George Gault to the Workforce Development Board effective November 1. Members of the Board serve three-year terms and serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

Gault, who also serves as Chair of Mesquite Works, was one of the founders of the local non-profit workforce development organization in 2015. Mesquite Works provides free job assistance to area residents, including resume writing, new clothing if required and help in finding job opportunities from Moapa Valley to Beaverdam.

Earlier this year, Mesquite Works assumed ownership of the Mesquite Plaza Shopping Center and raised over $200,000 for remodeling the aging property. The empty units on the west side of the center are being converted into a new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Agriculture and Math (STEAM) campus for area students.

Gault’s efforts in creating the STEAM center, his leadership of Mesquite Works and his service on the Mesquite City Council were recognized in the appointment by the Governor.

The Governor’s Workforce Development Board is responsible for reviewing statewide workforce policies and programs under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. Duties include the review and development of funding formulas for employment and training statewide as well as overseeing the workforce and labor market information system as require by federal law.
