Susan Perkins McCann
Susan Perkins McCann, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away from complications of Parkinson’s disease on December 4, 2021, in Las Vegas surrounded by her loving children.
She was born May 14, 1940 in Overton, NV to Clyde and Geneva Perkins. As there were no hospitals in this small town, she was delivered in the home of Gertie Anderson. She was a proud 3rd generation Nevadan.
Susan loved growing up in Overton and raising her family. She loved the beautify of the desert and mountains around her.
After starting her family, Susan desired to complete her high school education, and in 1967 she graduated from Moapa Valley High School. Upon graduation she was offered employment at Nevada Power, working at the Reid Gardner Station in Moapa where she was employed for 35 years. Upon retirement, Melvin and Susan moved to Las Vegas to be closer to their children.
Susan was a very talented and artistic woman. One of her favorite passions was making porcelain dolls. She enjoyed teaching this hobby to those eager to learn from her.
Susan and her family were avid Oklahoma University football fans. She attended many games with Melvin and continued this tradition after his death with her children. She cherished her Boomer Sooner weekends with family during the college football season.
Susan is survived by her 5 children: Eddie (Debbie) McCann, Denise (Richard) Gonzales, Crystal McCann, Kerin (Rueben) Cervantez and Kyle (Shannon) McCann; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, and her beloved dog Boomer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister and her one and only love of 50 years, Melvin McCann.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Molly’s at 4970 So. Ft. Apache Rd., Las Vegas, NV from 4-6 p.m.
