Luke 2:11, ‘For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.’
Jesus did not develop into Lord and Savior. He was born that way. Jesus was a manifestation of God in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16). What a fascinating paradox!
How could God, who is all-powerful, limit Himself to the shape of a human? Even if He did that, how could he begin his life as an infant? These are issues that exceed human comprehension.
‘But will God, in fact, dwell among men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heavens of heavens cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have constructed!’ Solomon said at the dedication of the first temple. (2 Chr. 6:18)
How much less the body of a little child!
The fact that God is a spirit (Jn. 4:24) is part of the solution. Spirits are not restricted by time or space. Jesus’ spirit was the eternal God who created the universe, according on the Bible’s account (Acts 17:23).
The physical body of Jesus was simply His “earth suit” that He utilized to appear to the world. That form could contain all of Jesus’ godhead.
We can understand it more fully because we see how Christ dwells in us as believers, according to Colossians 1:27 (which is still difficult to grasp).
If the entire glory of God could be crammed into Jesus’ physical body, then all of God’s fullness may also dwell within us (Jn. 1:16).
Believe that Christ dwells in you at this moment. That is the first step in this wonderful journey of faith.
