MERRY CHRISTMAS! 2021 Tour of Christmas Lights

It was a team effort in this multi-residential display in the Rock Springs II area of Mesquite. It features plenty of lights and an amazing collection of handmade decorations. See more about this and many more home light displays in our special Christmas feature on page B-1.

2021 Moapa Valley Tour of Lights

A cheerful snowman feature greets the viewer, along with a lot of other holiday cheer in this display on Lillian Condie Street in Overton.

This edition marks the 18th year of The Progress annual tradition of publishing the Moapa Valley Tour of Lights. Once again, our staff has enjoyed driving through the Moapa Valley seeking notable home Christmas light displays to highlight here in our pages.

It is clear that the difficulties of inflation and supply chain woes of 2021 have not dampened the holiday spirit out there in the local neighborhoods. The lights of the holidays are burning as bright as ever.
We would hasten to point out that this annual feature is not meant to be a contest, though some folks always seem to see it that way. Rather it is an encouragement for our readers to spend a little family time, get out of the house and drive through the community to enjoy what their fellow residents have done to decorate for the holiday.

Santa has obviously been busy in his workshop fashioning all of these amazing wooden holiday cut-outs which fill the yard of this home on Hardy Ave in Logandale.

This year we have tried to focus on areas of the community that might be less trodden, figuring that the beautifully decorated homes along the highway and well-travelled streets speak for themselves and are commonly seen. These choices will get you into the neighborhood where you are likely to see a lot more not pictured here.

Finally, the few photos that we are able to publish here aren’t meant to be grand prize winners. Ideally, they are just a few of our favorites. In some cases, given the challenges of low light photography, they might just be the photos that have turned out the best.

We hope that our readers enjoy their own Tour of Lights as much as we enjoyed ours.
