Salvation Army Receives Golf Fore Kids Donation

The 17th Annual Golf Fore Kids Fundraiser completed its final act last week with the presentation of a check for more than $6,000 to the Salvation Army of Mesquite.

Local realtor Karen Fielding, representing the Golf Fore Kids Committee, presented the check to Salvation Army Director Bill Ennis on Monday, Jan. 3.

The long-standing annual tournament, which this year sold out three of the four courses within the first 20 minutes of the open registration, took place on December 9, 2021. Golfers from all over the country participated.

They braved an unusually cold and wet day in Mesquite to participate. But the feeling of giving and helping hundreds of children to celebrate at Christmas, made the event warm and inviting.

That feeling of giving spilled over to last week when the check for $6.691 was presented to the Salvation Army. Bill Ennis and Larry Wait were on hand to collect the check. They both expressed how much it meant for that donation.

Ennis explained that 100% of the donation money would stay here in Mesquite and help provide food, clothing, housing, and incidentals to local residents in need.

Fielding stated that plans are already being made for the 18th Annual Golf Fore Kids Fundraiser and that the registration will open on October 1, 2022.
