VVTG calling all actors!

The Virgin Valley Theatre Group is holding audition this week for its upcoming production of “Wedding Bells, or How the Virgin Valley Got It’s Groove On.”

The auditions are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 18 and Wednesday Jan. 19 at the Mesquite Community Theatre. Auditions begin at 6 pm.

The VVTG will be selecting actors for five female and five male speaking roles. In addition, they will be looking for two male and two female singers for the production.

Candidates should come prepared to sing a song of their choice from the 1960s. The script for the play will be available at 5 pm for those who would like to come early and preview it.

“Wedding Bell Blues” is a melodrama set in Lizard, Nevada in the 1960’s. The heroine of the piece is Crystal Ball, the owner of a local bridal shop called Enchanted Garden.

There are villains, Slip Shod and Mrs. Sippi. Slip owns the bank and Mrs. wants to rise to the top of Lizard society no matter what it takes. Her daughter, Missy Sippi, is always a bridesmaid and never a bride.

The innocent bride-to-be is Paisley Tye and her betrothed is Brighton Early. Locals include Rainbow Trout, Lucky Chance, Adam Zapple, and Howie Doohan.

The production will be performed for the public on March 11-26. Tickets go on sale Feb. 11.

All are welcome to come and read for this production. All auditioning must show proof of current and complete COVID-19 vaccinations.
