OBITUARY: Lorna Fern Peterson

Lorna Fern Peterson

Lorna Fern Peterson

Lorna Fern Peterson, 82, passed away on March 29, 2022 in Las Vegas, NV. She was born on August 21, 1939 in Cannonville, UT to George Judson Henderson and Fern Ora Golding, as the youngest of twelve children.

She had a pleasant childhood, spending time with her many friends and siblings, and having wonderful role models and teachers. She met Harold Ray Peterson and they were married on October 2, 1959 in Cannonville, UT. They were later sealed on June 25, 1965 in the St. George, UT Temple with their family.

They learned together how to strengthen their marriage and were diligent in teaching their four children the importance of family and service. She was a loving mother who enjoyed cooking and canning to always provide a loving space for her children. Lorna always appreciated Harold’s efforts to gather her many siblings together to form the strong family bonds their children cherish.

Community was very important to Lorna, and she strived to serve others. She often participated in local fund-raisers, providing her fantastic quilts and crochet work, among other goodies to sell. She had many strong ties with the Moapa Band of Paiutes, and greatly appreciated their friendship to her and her husband over the years.

Lorna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and magnified her many callings, even at a young age. She studied the scriptures and prayed often to deepen her testimony of her Savior. She was involved with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers organization as well. She took great interest in family history and temple work. She was as sweet as an angel, yet firm in her beliefs.

Lorna is survived by her children: Kevin (Loretta) Peterson, Clifford (Billie) Peterson, Annette (Jim) Simons, and Alan (Raquel) Peterson; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Peterson; her parents; her eleven siblings; three grandsons, and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logandale Chapel. Interment followed at the Logandale Cemetery.
