The lawn at the Moapa Valley Ballfields Complex in Logandale was transformed into a sea of easter eggs on Thursday, April 14.

Local children ages 0-10 lined the edge of the field in eager preparation to run out among this assembly of colorful plastic eggs.

Approximately 6,000 eggs had been hidden in advance by staff and volunteers and staff members of of the local Parks and Recreation office.

The field was split into four sections in order to make it a fair game among age groups. Children ages 0-3 took one section of the field and hunted down the eggs with the help of their parents. Youngsters 4-5, 6-7, and 8-10 congregated into different groups of the field as well.

As soon as Local Parks and Recreation Specialist Lauralyn Robison shouted “Go!”, kids scattered everywhere across th lawn, dashing to collect as many eggs as their baskets could carry.
All of these eggs had been purchased pre-stuffed with prizes. These included items such as candy and small toys.

However, many kids also rushed across the grassy field in anxious search for the “prize egg.” This coveted item was an empty egg that could be cashed in for a larger prize such as a stuffed animal or exciting toy.
The prize eggs were usually hidden in more difficult places, to make it more of a challenge.

Tyson Terril, 10 of Logandale, was happy with his outcome. “I had a lot of fun!” he said. “I really liked running and collecting all the eggs I could get. I got a lot of eggs and the prizes were cool.”

Robison had good things to say about the event and its organization.
“Its always really fun!” she said. “It’s like a dash, so that’s why we tried to spread it out this year, in hopes that it wouldn’t be over so quickly.”
“A few people have said that they didn’t know we put on an Easter Egg hunt,” Robison said. “But people really enjoy it. We have been doing it every year for a long time.”

Children, staff, and parents alike enjoyed the fun-filled easter egg hunt. Both joy and laughter was shared through the overall feeling of cheer brought about by the excitement of the Easter season in Moapa Valley.
