Timothy David Stovall

Timothy David Stovall, 53, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2022 in his home in Overton, NV. He was born on June 21, 1968 in Monticello, UT to Lawrence Stephen and Elaine Martin Stovall. He was raised in Monticello with his three siblings, and he attended Monticello High School.

As a youth, he was active and athletic. He played football and was a state champion in wrestling. When he wasn’t playing sports, he was usually getting into some kind of trouble, often with his brother, playing pranks and other shenanigans around the town.

He loved the outdoors and he enjoyed working at a cattle ranch for a few summers before graduating in 1986. After graduation he decided to serve a mission for the LDS church. His belief in the gospel led him to be the first missionary in his entire family history, and his decision to serve inspired his parents to be sealed in the temple.

After his mission, he left Monticello to study at Dixie College where he met Dee Lyn Rasmussen, who was a nursing student. They continued their relationship as he went to work for Mercy Ambulance in Las Vegas, NV and she at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. He would make the drive to see her as often as he possibly could. They were married in the Salt Lake City, UT Temple on November 16, 1990, and became the loving parents of their four children.

While attending the University of Utah and working for the Utah medical examiner, he was afflicted with some debilitating medical complications that he overcame, and was eventually able to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree. Tim then moved his family to Las Vegas, NV where he joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2001. He served bravely, tirelessly, selflessly, and honorably; and loved and respected those officers he served with.

Tim was often fishing, shooting, and off-roading in his spare time, especially with his children, and picked up being a cowboy as his family moved to Moapa Valley in 2017. He bought some horses, cows, a couple dogs, and a brand-new tractor, and began fulfilling his dream of being a rancher. Above all, Tim loved his wife, Dee, and his children, who he gave everything for.

Tim is survived by his wife, Dee Stovall; his children: Christian (Mikayla Pillar) Stovall, Benjamin (McKenna) Stovall, Kelli (Trent) Roberts, and Hanna Stovall; his one grandchild that is on the way; his father, Steve Stovall; his siblings: Mike (Tracey) Stovall, Karen (Brian) Shattuck, and John (Viola) Stovall; a wonderfully large extended family full of nieces and nephews who all loved their Uncle Tim; and his second family at Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Stovall, and his nephew, Ethan Rapoza.

Viewing services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 9-10:30 a.m.at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logandale, NV Stake Center, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at the Logandale Cemetery.
