Community Showcase To Be Held Friday

Mesquite Works and College of Southern Nevada, Mesquite campus is holding a community event and job fair at the Mesquite Rec Center on Friday, May 13 from 8 am until noon. Organizers are inviting all businesses, organizations and programs in the community to come and participate in the event.

“As everything is getting back into operation from COVID, we thought it would be good to provide an opportunity for people and organizations to show off what they are doing,” said Mesquite Works Board Chairman George Gault. “If new businesses want to advertise what they are up to; if non-profits have something going on; if there are new programs getting off the ground – this would be a great chance to visit with others and find out what all is going on in the community.”

The event will also be a job fair to bring job-seekers in touch with local employers.
“We have about 150 new jobs that are coming to Mesquite soon, and we have just started the conversation about training a local workforce,” Gault said. “This will be a good opportunity for people to get in early and find out what will be involved with that.”

As of the end of last week, there were more than 20 vendors signed up to participate in the event. And it is not too late to sign up to have a table.

“We want to invite local businesses with hiring needs as well as organizations, non-profits, and existing and future companies to participate and network with the community,” said CSN Mesquite Site Coordinator Darlene Montague. “This opportunity allows you to be involved in the community and showcase your organization.”
