The Progress
The successful inauguration of “Kids’s Funtastic Day” on Saturday, May 21 by the First Baptist Church has encouraged the intentions of the Church volunteers that it should be an annual summer event.
The event sported eighteen fun-filled games and rides for kids of all ages to enjoy. These included an electronic bull ride, which always puts a smile on everyone’s face.
Inside the building were table games of skill and face painting.
“I don’t think any person, child, or adult, walked out without a face painting,” said Event Coordinator Deb Campbell.
For each game or ride in which a child participated, he/she earned a ticket. The tickets collected could then be used to buy a prize of their choice at the prize booth.
The outdoor games consisted of things like cornhole, basket hoops, mini golf challenge, water slides and bounce house. The younger ones seemed most fascinated with the fishing hole.
All age groups enjoyed the freshly made cotton candy.
Inside at the Holy Grounds Coffee Station, hotdogs and chips were being served to attendees.
“Most everything to make this day happen was donated to us,” Campbell said. “The little we had to purchase was covered by member donations.”
The event was put on by church members and non-member volunteers.
“This event is truly a showing of the love of this community, especially for the children,” said Campbell. “I want to thank everyone, all the volunteers that helped make it a great day.”
