The alleged suspect – arrested with the murder weapon still in his hands, and having already sent out a message of his intent to commit these crimes – stands before a judge and claims to be totally innocent of the charges. As if that will bring these people back to life. He wrote out a 180 page “manifesto” on his premeditated plan to commit these crimes. And drove hundreds of miles to get there. These prove intent and premeditation.
Unfortunately, he was in a “mental wellness” program last year as a school student, as a result of wanting to rearrange the student body population. Also unfortunately, his actions are being classified as “federal hate crimes.”
There are two things wrong with that. First, there is no federal law against killing a person. Not one. The feds only get involved if a person is taken across state lines and then killed. Second, if he is tried under federal guidelines and goes to a federal “prison”, that’s not really jail. The cost is twice that of a state prison term, and they eat better than most of us.
This kid needs to be put into an old state prison where the other inmates will impress upon him the seriousness of his offenses.
Just my opinion.
