The annual banquet for the Moapa Valley FFA Chapter took place on the evening of May 3. Community members and students alike came to the MVHS Ag Farm to honor this year’s achievements and to enjoy a delicious dinner.
The meal was put on Denise O’Toole, Cheryl Rawson, Leah Bush, Kristen Yardley, Mandie Matheson, Rhonda Rowley, Jennifer Williams, and many FFA members.
The outgoing FFA officers conducted an awards ceremony.
The Honorary Degree award is given to those who have rendered outstanding service to agriculture and FFA. Those awarded included Tye and Katie Eastman, Jerid and Mandie Matheson, Collet Phillipenas, Heather Larsen and Kevin and Denise O’Toole.
The chapter degree is given to students who are FFA members e involved in chapter activities and community service and complete the minimum hours of instruction and Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project growth. This award was presented to McKenna Melvin, Abigail Dreyfus, Layla Moncrief, Nadia Shakespear, Allie Nelson, Avery Freeman, Hannah Fullmer, Miriam Werner, Isaac Thompson, and Brooke Houston.
The new 2022-23 chapter officers were then presented. These included President: Andi Webber, Vice President: Taytum Yardley, Secretary: Isaac Thompson, Treasurer: Nadia Shakespear, Reporter: Allie Nelson, Historian: Miriam Werner, Sentinel: Shaylee Adams, Student Advisors: Layla Moncrief, Sophia Rowley, Social Media Specialist: Lauren Williams, and Officers at Large: Iain McMurray, McKenna Melvin.
