The Progress
Students of the Go EXL Academy performed for parents, family members in a final production of the school year on Wednesday, May 25 at the Old Logandale School. The name of the play was “Tall Tales and Heroes.”
Special Heroes learning coach Ms KaeLyne Pendleton started off with an introduction about the successes of the past school year at Go EXL. She expressed pride in her students for their preparations for this performance. “They have worked long and hard for this night,” she said.
From preschoolers to fourth graders, the children were decked out in various costumes as they performed the energetic play.
Children would come up to the front of the stage to deliver their parts as characters from American history and folklore. Each shared a “tall tale” with the audience. The youngsters also sang songs as part of the performance, which added a classy effect.
Pendleton had great things to say about the outcome of play. “We have been working on the play for two months,” she said, “and we had sick kids last minute. So we had kids learning new lines just the day before the play. They all did so awesome, I am proud of them!”
Pendleton also extended thanks to those that helped to run the play. Amber Leavitt was thanked for her patience and creativity as the choreographer. Ron Stokes and Randy Burris were also extended a warm thank you as they shot video footage of the play. Jacksons Design, Lins, and the Bennett family provided delicious refreshments for which all were grateful.
Old Logandale School Historical Arts and Culture Society Director Robin Maughan also received a huge thanks for hosting the small school in the building and lending support.
“She helped out and stitched a costume right up when it was falling apart,” said Pendleton. “I’m thankful to everyone for their help in the production. Our biggest Heroes are all of you!”
