A group of local musicians gave a sparkling performance at “An Evening of Music” held on Thursday night, June 2 at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Logandale.
The evening began with piano solos performed ably by local students Talia Dominguez and Gabriella Dominguez.
Kenzie Hughes then played a violin solo: Carl Bohm’s “Spanish Serenade.” The piece was played to perfection.
Next was an exceptional performance of Mozart’s “Horn Quintet in E flat.” Kim Delgadillo playing the polished horn solo, supported by strings played by Walter White on violin, Dinah Nagel and Brent Pettit on violas and Lila Sellers on cello.
Bria Scatterday then played the “Nocturne” flute solo by Herman Beeftink accompanied by very able piano accompanist Rita Hermie. Bria’s flute sound was exceptional as well as her musical interpretation.
Next on the program was violinist Walter White, local Clark County music teacher. He performed a lively and fiery “Czardas” by Vittorio Monti.
The evening closed with the professional sound of Brent Pettit and Lila Sellers joining on cellos to play Antonio Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Two Cellos,” F.A. Kummer’s “Duet for Two Cellos Op. 22,” George Harrison’s “Here Comes the Sun,” and Luis Fonai’s “Despacito.”
The performance was well attended and the audience visibly enjoyed themselves in listening to these wonderful musical selections.
Kim Delgadillo needs to be congratulated for her Mozart solo and for her quality sounding piano solo students; Rita Hermie for her leadership and accompanying; and all soloists for their outstanding performance.
