It was an exciting day for local Moapa Valley youngsters on Friday, June 10. It was the day when Magician Adam London was making his annual appearance to the community, courtesy of the Moapa Valley Library branch.

The comic magician performed compelling magic tricks for parents and children alike at the Old Logandale School.

Throughout the course of the magic show, London demonstrated tricks on his own and also called on young helpers from the audience.

Local youngster, Meagan Barnes was called up on the stage for a money-cutting trick. She volunteered $100 for Adam London to use. He stashed the money in an envelope and proceeded to cut the envelope in half. However, when he opened it up the $100 bill was still completely intact.

Then, he taught the crowd how to do this trick at home. He showed the crowd how to cut the proper holes in the envelope so that you could cut the envelope without cutting the bill.

One trick in particular seemed to be the audience favorite. London called up four parents to the stage and gave them each a small colored ball. He handed out three yellow balls and one black ball. His goal was to guess which parent had the black ball. By asking his contestants a couple of questions, he was able to correctly guess who had the black ball.

Old Logandale School Historic and Cultural Society Vice President, Aimee Potts had good things to say about the turnout of the show. “There were around 300 people here today, which was really great!” she said. “We’ve been hosting library programs in the old school for almost 5 years now. It is our mission to do things with kids, and it’s really great that we can do this with the library.”

Young Haliee Wilcox had great things to say about the show as well. “I really liked the magic show!” she said. “It was so fun to watch.”

The library program is in full momentum, preparing summer activities and events for kids to participate and enjoy in.
