Republican U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt made a final campaign tour through the state last weekend before the Primary Election on Tuesday, June 14. One of the stops on the tour was at Pirate’s Landing restaurant in Logandale.

About 85 Moapa Valley residents showed up at the local pizzeria to meet up with Laxalt, shake his hand and hear what he had to say about the upcoming election bid.

Laxalt emphasized to the local crowd what a critical race this U.S. Senate race is. He called it the most important Senate race in the country with a groundswell of support from people rallying momentum towards the general election in November.

“I have talked to a lot of people across the state,” Laxalt said. “And I can tell you, the independents are with us right now. Blue collar Democrats are with us right now. Moderate Democrats are with us. We are in the middle of an earthquake; in the middle of a transformative election.”

Laxalt added that this U.S. Senate race could have a major effect in Nevada that could be felt all the way down the ballot in November.

“We are building towards a race that gives us a conservative Senator for six years,” Laxalt said. “If we have six years, we can push for real change. And if we do it right, it won’t stop there. We could pull Repulbicans all across the state – turn the tide and flip Nevada, top-down: U.S. Senate, Congress, Governor all the way through. This is the best opportunity we will ever have to turn this state. Let’s go save Nevada. Let’s go save America!”

Pirate’s Landing owner Danielle Holliday said she was pleased to invite Laxalt to make a stop at her restaurant on this tour.

Holliday told the crowd that she had received some help from Laxalt several years ago when he was serving as the Nevada Attorney General. At that time, she had another business that was experiencing problems with two major companies not providing appropriate service. It could have meant the downfall of her business at the time, she said.

“I was in trouble and nobody would listen to me,” Holliday said. “I reached out to Adam; I still have the letter; and he was the only one who actually spoke up for me. I always remember that. And that is an important reason why I am here today.”

Holliday furnished pizza, salad bar and soft drinks free to the crowd at the event.
“My daughter and I bought this restaurant in August and we are excited to be a part of this community,” Holliday added. “We love the Moapa Valley!”

Holliday said she was pleased to offer her restaurant as a venue for this event. “I thought it was important to invite Mr. Laxalt and his tour,” she concluded. “Candidates need to see that we have an opinion in the rural areas and that our opinion counts. I appreciate him for coming to meet with us and speak with us.”
