The Progress
A kickoff event is being planned for one of Moapa Valley’s newest non-profit ventures. Ramos Racing is hosting the Wickenburg, Arizona-based off-road pro Jason Cobb of Trophylights in an expo event to be held on Sunday, June 26 beginning at 6:00 am at the old Overton dump area just east of Perkins Field airport.
“They are going to be coming in fresh off of another big racing event,” said Ramos Racing founder and life-long Moapa Valley resident Jesse Ramos. “So if their equipment is still running, they will be doing a demonstration. Either way, they will be there to talk to local off-roaders.”
Ramos has established this new 501c3 non-profit as a sort of support team for local youth who want to get into offroad motorcycle racing. He envisions it as a group of knowledgeable off-roaders volunteering time and resources to help youngsters get into the sport.
“We would just be here to help kids work on their bikes, fix them, enhance them, customize them and learn how to race them,” Ramos said.
Ramos is calling on adult members of the community who want to help work with kids – as well as kids who want to get into motorcycle racing – to sign up and get involved.
“You don’t even have to have your own bike to get started,” Ramos said. “If a kid wants to race, we will work with him to get him up and running.”
To register on the Ramos Racing team, either as a youth or adult volunteers, go to ramosracing.com, click on “Contact Us” and send an email message to Jesse indicating your interest.
“Those registering should also just tell me what they would like to do or how they can help,” Ramos said. “We want to get this up and running right away. It will be a lot of fun!”
