Pirate’s Landing restaurant in Logandale will celebrate it’s first year anniversary of new ownership on Monday, August 8. The community is invited to come between 4-8 p.m. and order up their favorite pies. Pizza specials will be buy-one-get-one free, any size pizza, up to two toppings. Kids attending will receive a free pirate cup.

Of course that is not all there is to chow down on that afternoon. The restaurant also offers hamburgers, chicken, veggies, salad bar, drinks and much more, along with an arcade section to keep folks entertained.

Last year, Danielle Holliday fell in love with Moapa Valley and wanted to move her family out of the big city, especially her grandkids as she felt the schools were better in a smaller community. Her daughter, grandkids and parents all live locally now.

Holliday was prompted to buy Pirate’s Landing from the Wittig family, the previous owners. Knowing that this was an established and well-loved place for the whole family to enjoy, she wanted to keep everything the same in the beginning.

“I did not want to change anything because I had heard from several people how great the pizza was,” Holliday said. “So at first, we kept the same menu, same prices, same decorations and even the original employees who were here a year ago.”

Danielle’s daughter Gia Holliday is the general manager. Together, the two women talked to residents wherever they went to get input and community preferences.
“I talked to anyone I could, at the post office, Lin’s, community events, etc. to ask if there was any changes or additions they thought we could make to meet the needs and wants of our town,” Danielle said.
She received plenty of great ideas. And she has implemented most of those requests.

The kitchen has been upgraded and rearranged to be more efficient. Additions to the restaurant menu include new pizza crusts: cauliflower, gluten free and dairy free; vegetable and Margherita pizza; 88 different drinks and floats sponsored by Pepsi; new appetizers: zucchini, fried pickles, cauliflower and breaded mushrooms; a variety of dessert pizza; and they incorporated local vendors such as Grandma Nellie’s Cookies and chocolates by Linda’s Sweets.

Gia has prior experience in the restaurant business in Las Vegas so she was able to step right in to take over the daily duties.
“The struggle at first was trying to figure out what would be best for us and the community,” Gia said. “But now we are a well-oiled machine.”
“This business is definitely a labor or love, but has been well worth it,” Gia added. “The community has welcomed us and our progress has exceeded expectations. When you work with great employees and customers, success follows.”

Both Danielle and Gia take every opportunity they can to support the schools, sports teams, Booster Club, Rotary Club and any event that comes along by donating gift certificates to the various causes.

Pirate’s Landing is located at 3113 N. Moapa Valley Blvd. in Logandale. It is open 6 days per week: Monday-Friday 4-8pm and Saturday 11am-8pm. You can also call in your order at 702-398-7511.
