LETTER: Raising an IRS army

The IRS currently has 67,000 employees with a budget of $12 billion. This latest bill, costing $740 billion, includes adding 87,000 more employees for the IRS and an additional $80 billion to the agency.

If they can run the IRS with 67,000 employees for $12 billion, why would adding 87,000 employees cost us $80 billion?

They currently have 4,500 guns in the IRS along with 5,000,000 rounds of ammo. Are they planning on arming all of the employees? Think of it, 87,000 is basically 4 times the population of Mesquite, Nevada. How did they come up with that number and why are so many needed?

By comparison: the DOD has 24,000, the FBI has 35,000, the state department has 23,000 and customs and border patrol has 60,000. These four total 142,000. The IRS will have 154,000.

There are countries with armies smaller than what the IRS is going to be. Maybe this is going to be their army to go after everyone’s guns. That would explain why they have recorded the names and addresses of over 50 million gun owners.

Their claim is that they’re going after people who make over $400,000 a year. People making that much money have attorneys and accountants who can fight any tax audit for months. That will cost the IRS more than it is worth. On the other hand, most of the tax revenue comes from those of us making less than $400,000 a year. We cannot afford to hire accountants and lawyers.

What are you going to do if the IRS shows up at your door, with a gun?
