Suspect Arrested for Burglary and Grand Larceny of a Vehicle

Anthony Jessop

(Mesquite Police Department)  On Monday, August 15, Mesquite Police officers responded to a report  of a vehicle that was stolen during a burglary at a pest control business the day prior  around 9:30 a.m.

While conducting a thorough investigation of the crime scene, officers determined the  suspect entered the property through a window while the business was closed.  Officers collected several pieces of evidence that would aid in the identification of the  suspect, to include a shoeprint and video surveillance. Officers began a search for the  suspect and the stolen vehicle. Later that day, the abandoned stolen vehicle was  located in Arizona, and was returned to the business.

The following evening, a detective located the suspect walking in a casino parking lot.  The detective detained the male to investigate further, and noticed he was wearing  the same clothing and shoes that he wore during the burglary and theft of the vehicle. The detective then safely took the male into custody.

Anthony James Jessop, 47, of Scenic, Arizona was charged with one count of felony burglary of a business, and one count of felony grand theft of a motor vehicle.

Due to the felony charges Jessop was transported to Clark County Detention Center  in Las Vegas.

Chief MaQuade Chesley stated, “The criminals who decide to victimize our residents  and businesses need to rethink those poor decisions. Our officers’ dedication to this city is unmatched and will do everything in their power to find and arrest these  criminals”. He continued “Officers and detectives working together to share  information and evidence led to the quick arrest and closure of this case, and we are  all proud of their hard work”.
