A medical imaging clinic was brought to Moapa Valley by Brooke’s Good Deeds on Thursday, Sept. 1 in the organization’s Logandale office.

Southern Nevada Diagnostic Imaging (SNDI), owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Rebecca and Cyrus Zia, administered medical ultrasound imaging to those who were interested.

In an interview with The Progress, Rebecca Zia gave some background on how the local clinic had been established. Rebecca and Cyrus are a blended family with three children: Easton, Sophia and Connor.
Zia said that at the beginning of the pandemic, she sold her house to begin a debt free, simple life. She remained employed but was searching for a different lifestyle.

“Along with my husband. we set our sights for small town life,” Rebecca said. “We fell in love the first time we came to this small town. We were so intrigued by it’s history, sense of community and beauty.”

The Zias quickly noticed a shortage of healthcare services offered within the community – specifically a shortage of diagnostic imaging services.
“Having worked in emergent care settings for the past decade, I’ve become an advocate for the importance of having low cost, non-invasive services – such as diagnostic ultrasound – within a growing community,” Rebecca added.

The Zia’s company, SNDI is entirely mobile. Whether a patient has a referral from a doctor, or they would simply like to have an ultrasound done in a problem area to have peace of mind, the patient can call SDI directly for those services. There are discounted cash pay prices and most insurance is accepted.

Rebecca and Cyrus are highly trained. Both have worked in big hospitals, with backgrounds in radiology, MRI and X-rays. They wanted a different experience and a different life than in a big city. So they bring their services to events like the one at Brooke’s Good Deeds last week. They can also go to the patient’s home, and even their doctors office, to make it as convenient as possible.

“So a patient does not have to wait for a referral, then make an appointment to go elsewhere to have an ultrasound done,” Rebecca said.

Geri Leavitt of Overton was very interested in this event.
“It will be so helpful to have them come to the valley,” Leavitt said. “Right now when you need an ultrasound, you have to go to your primary doctor in Mesquite or St George. Then they refer you to a specialist also in Mesquite or St George, which is another trip. Then you have to go back to the doctor again. This service eliminates a lot of travel time as well as the cost of going 3-4 times to Mesquite or St George.”

Logandale resident Dave Robison does not have health insurance, so he went to the event just to get some peace of mind.
“It is unfortunate, but if you don’t have insurance, or the money to get tests done, sometimes you just don’t go to the doctor,” Dave said. “Coming here today to have an ultrasound done to check my breathing and possible inflammation around my lungs was a big help and I literally can breathe a little easier now.”

Cyrus explained their mission is to bring compassion back to healthcare.
“I saw the ugliness of healthcare, and we know how to fix it, by coming to you instead of you having the stress of driving to an appointment,” he said. “It shouldn’t be about money and administrators, it should be about the health and well-being of the people you are caring for.”

Ultrasound services offered by SNDI include abdominal, vascular, trans-cranial doppler, pediatric studies, OB/GYN, breast, musculoskeletal, gender reveal and echocardiography.
