The Progress
Brooke’s Good Deeds in Logandale held an Open House event on Friday, Sept. 23. It was an opportunity to meet the staff of the new non-profit and see what services are provided to the community. There was even a raffle for several fun items and delicious treats.
“It was a huge success!” said Shanna McPheters, founder of Brooke’s Good Deeds. “We had a lot of participants.”
Shanna, and her husband and cofounder Gary, were pleased to have long time friends surprise them and drop by to the local event.
A representative from 3 Square stopped by, which the McPheters were very excited about. Brooke’s Good Deeds has a community food pantry for members of the community who need food.
“A lot of people will ask us how they can qualify to receive the food we have and I tell them that all they have to do is walk through our door,” said Gary.
Shanna also announced that a mental health counselor will be available at the facility on Tuesdays. Kimberley Witter, who currently has a counseling office in Mesquite, will serve Moapa Valley on Tuesday mornings from 8 am -12 pm. Appointments can be made by calling 435-688-1111 or schedule online with ascendcw.com or https://ascendcw.com/about-us/mesquite-office-staff/.
Another great opportunity at Brooke’s Good Deeds is coming up on Saturday, October 1 from noon until 3 pm. There will be a book signing with young adult fiction authors Vicki-Ann Bush and Stephen Murray. Bush has written “Alex McKenna & Death Is Not the Beginning.” Murray has written, “”Discovering the Christmas Spirit,” and “The Chapel of Eternal Love.”
A food pantry, diagnostic imaging, dementia classes and mental health counseling will also now be available at Brooke’s Good Deeds.
