The Progress
An after-school recreation program at the Bunkerville Community Center is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm for children ages 6-13. It is a drop-in program, run by Clark County Parks and Recreation. The program is free but parents must register their kids before they can participate.
In the program, kids play active games such as steal the flag, dodge ball and other games in the gym. Elementary and middle school kids are welcome to come to the Community Center on 150 W. Virgin St. in Bunkerville.
Homework help is also available with a classroom open for kids to work. The after school activities will continue from September through May 18, 2023.
Parks and Rec specialist Elmer Lopez has been running the program for 9 years now. He organizes the games and keeps the kids participating safely. Ruth Ponce also helps with the program.
In addition to the after school program, a Flip Book Animation class will be offered on Tuesdays, through Oct. 27 from 5:15 to 6:00 pm. This class is for ages 8 -14. Registration is $20 and the activity is Code: 6 Bunkerville Art_ANI.
