The Progress Welcomes A New Team Member

Sandi Boyce

The Progress newspaper welcomes a new member to its team in Mesquite. Long-time Mesquite resident Sandi Boyce has joined the staff and will be the newspaper’s Advertising Consultant in the Virgin Valley area.

“We are excited to have Sandi aboard in working with local business owners with their advertising needs,” said The Progress owner/editor Vernon Robison. “Our belief is that the best way to work with local advertisers is by being a best friend to local business owners. And Sandi will be a perfect fit in that philosophy.”

Boyce is no stranger to the field of advertising in the local area, or for that matter to the newspaper industry. Over the nearly 20 years she has lived in Mesquite she has worked for just about every local newspaper that has been in print. She has sold ads for the Desert Valley Times, the Mesquite Local News and the Mesquite Monthly.

During her career she has held other sales positions as well, including working for Nabisco, Boulevard Home Furnishings, Auto Trader and working as a real estate agent.
“At one time, I even owned a metal fabrication company with my husband at the time,” Boyce said. “It is great to still see a lot of our work on the Vegas Strip even to this day.”
But something about newspaper ad sales has always drawn her back.
“I seem to keep coming back to newspapers,” Boyce said. “So when I received a call offering me to work for The Progress, I just couldn’t say no.”

Boyce started work for the newspaper last week and has hit the ground running. She has been making new contact with local business owners who are her friends and whom she has worked with before.
“I look forward to working again with my previous business contacts and also to building new relationships,” Boyce said.

Robison said that he is already impressed with Boyce’s enthusiasm for helping local business.
“Sandi is very locally-grounded just like The Progress,” Robison said. “She understands how to reach a local audience.”

“One of the most valuable things that The Progress can offer to businesses is our strong local readership,” Robison added. “Because of our extended coverage, people are picking up the paper in Mesquite like never before; and our online audience is continually growing. We are always devoted to leveraging that focused, local audience to help promote small business in town wherever we can. Sandi knows how to do that and she is eager to help.”
