The Progress
The Bingo Bash Fundraiser in the Rising Star Ballroom on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 15, was a full-fashioned success with 240 tickets sold. And an added attraction included a fashion show between the fourth and fifth games of bingo.
The Mesquite Showgirls are a 501 c (3) organization that assist in the local community events and local charity organizations by acting as greeters and selling raffle tickets, monitoring games, while dressed to the nines as showgirls with jazz and bling.
The fundraisers they hold, help pay the rent for their costume storage and the costumes. Players paid $20.00 and winners won $20.00.
The Bingo Bash is so popular that, President Becky Boyd said they are looking for a larger venue for next year’s event.
Larry LeMieux was the MC. Mark Guertin called bingo, with Rick Boyd turning the bingo wheel.
Clothing for the Fashion show came from Juniper Outpost, Stephen’s Boutique and Hair, and Eureka’s J.C. Merchant. The models were Luz Jaehn, Maryjane Stiles, Vicki Lewis and her son Dustin Simsich.
“I want to thank all the gracious merchants that donated raffle prizes to us,” Boyd said. “Gerri Chasko and the Eureka donated the water and goodies, Chasko is always helpful to the Showgirls.”
Boyd said the Showgirls are planning to have an “Under the Sea” house at Shreekreka on October 27 with a live mermaid.
