OBITUARY: Kim Milton Hardy

Kim Milton Hardy

Kim Milton Hardy

Kim Milton Hardy, 74, lost his battle with cancer October 19, 2022 at his home in Mesquite, NV. He was born August 8, 1948 in Overton, NV to Vernon Milton Hardy and Leathra Leavitt.

Kim was raised in Mesquite, NV where he worked along side his family on their ranch. He attended VVHS, where he played basketball and was active in FFA. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army to be deployed in the Vietnam Conflict. Before being shipped out, Kim’s father died in an accident and Kim was sent home to care for his family’s ranch. During this time, he began courting Susan Bundy and they quickly fell in love and were married on February 13, 1971 in Las Vegas, NV.

Kim loved his wife, and found joy in raising their four children. He drove truck for a time before working with the Arizona Port of Entry. He then accepted a position at Reid Gardner Power Plant in Moapa where he worked for thirty-eight years until the plant’s closure. He was a hard worker and proud to be the final control operator to shut the plant down.

Kim loved the outdoors, taking his family on hunting and camping trips and enjoying off-roading. He had a passion for shooting and was often modifying his guns and reloading. He taught his children how to work with horses and cattle, and took them to many rodeos over the years. Kim loved his grandchildren and tried to be there for all their life events. He was direct, honest and without guile. He loved his family and always wanted to be with them.

Kim is survived by his wife, Susan Hardy; his children: Cody Milton Hardy, Shad (Mindy) David Hardy, Yolanda (Mike) Scronce, and Amanda (Sebastian) Smith; grandchildren: Gunner, Ty, Olivia, Gavin, Oakley, Trinity, Paver, and Alistair; his siblings: Rod (Charlene) Hardy, Jace (Melusca) Hardy, and Gina (Ivan) Jones; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Lori Cooper.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mesquite City Cemetery on Hillside Road, Mesquite, NV.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
