Robert Dale Butcher
Robert Dale Butcher, age 83, passed away October 26, 2022 at Orem, Utah. He was born June 27, 1939 in Cedar City, Utah to Paul Franklin Butcher and Adaline Cripps.
He married Georgia Frandsen on July 16, 1960 in McGill, Nevada. They were later sealed to each other and their three daughters, Tamera, Kathleen, and Bobbie, in the St. George temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 25, 1965.
Robert, or Bob, as most people called him, was raised in Cedar City until he was 17. His family
then moved to Ely, Nevada, where he finished his last six weeks of his junior year and completed his senior year at White Pine High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US army. After basic training and stateside service, he spent two years in Korea. Bob worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation in McGill, Nevada. He began as a sampler, but obtained a degree as a Chemical Engineer by correspondence through I.C.S. and then worked for the remainder of his career as a chemist in the lab.
In 1983 the mine closed down and Robert moved with Georgia to Overton, Nevada to work for Nevada Power as a chemist there.
Bob served in many leadership callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
including Bishop, High Counselor, and Stake Presidency counselor. One of his most cherished callings was that of a temple worker, which he fulfilled every Friday morning for almost ten years. He and his wife Georgia served a mission in Oklahoma and then two service missions from their home in Overton.
Bob was always serving in some capacity. Bob was also a member of the church choir for his entire adult life. He loved music and wrote songs for his family, and sang at many funerals and weddings. He was a member of the Valley Voices Choir in Moapa Valley and then the Zephyr Singers. He worked for 20 years in Moapa Valley as a volunteer EMT and EMTI on the ambulance. He was happy to help anyone whenever he could. Bob enjoyed painting ceramics and doing woodworking. He loved gardening, camping, fishing, golfing, and traveling with his wife. He especially loved visiting his children and grandchildren, and other family- especially his mother, who preceded him in death by just a few months.
Bob is survived by his two daughters: Kathleen Christensen (Brian), and Bobbie Hugh (Kent),
along with 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sweetheart
wife, Georgia, and his daughter Tamera Williams. When asked what he wanted to be remembered for, he said, “A good husband and father, and a follower of Jesus Christ.”
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logandale Stake Center, 2555 St. Joseph Street, Logandale, Nevada prior to the service, a viewing will be held, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
