The Progress
Mesquite City Council-woman Sandra Ramaker, held a morning coffee and donuts Meet & Greet event on Saturday morning, Oct. 29 at Hole Foods Bakery in Mesquite. It was her most recent stop on her campaign trail to be re-elected to her Council seat.
Sitting outside of Hole Foods, Ramaker welcome visitors and had a chance to talk with constituents in a relaxed atmosphere while everyone got their morning java and a sweet treat. The weather was agreeable and the sweet treats yummy.
The subject of daycare availability was brought up by 28-year-old Hannah McDonald, who was was in attendance with an 18-month-old and 4-year-old in tow.
“We need more daycare here and more pre-schools,” McDonald said. “I can’t get my son in to pre-school.”
McDonald also suggested that the Recreation Center should have day care services for young mothers to have time to work-out. “Or at least, the Center should stay open later so we could come after the kids are in bed,” she suggested.
Judy Wall, who has lived in Mesquite for one year, said that the Meet and Greet event was valuable to her.
“Coming here and talking with Councilperson Ramaker has been a big help,” she said. “She answered my questions simply and understandably. I’m glad I came.”
Ramaker was also pleased with the informal event. “It was nice having people come by to chat one-on-one, and getting to hear what their concerns are,” she said.
