An investigation is currently underway in a suspected arson case at a small business in downtown Overton.
At 3:45 am on Friday morning, Nov. 4, the Moapa Valley Fire District received an alert to an outside fire at the Cablp Restaurrant in Overton.
Fire district units rushed to the scene to find the remnants of an active flame on the exterior west side of the building.
“By the time we got there it was just mainly a contents fire burning on the back porch of the building,” said MVFD Chief Stephen Neel.
The firefighters were able to quickly get the fire extinguished within minutes of arriving.
Then on further inspection of the scene, firefighters found indications that the fire was caused by arson, Neel said.
The matter was turned over to the Clark County Fire Inspector. The Inspector’s office is working in coordination with Metro Police and MVFD to investigate the incident. As of Friday afternoon, it was still under investigation.
Neel said that there was no structural damage to the building in the fire and that there was very little property damage.

OMG! Why would someone do this to such a wonderful philanthropist Cris Angel? He and his family have done such great things in and for our community. I sincerely hope that you get caught and are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! Shame on you!!!
