The Moapa Valley High School (MVHS) band, under the direction of William Ragland, has completed a major fundraiser for the year. The band saw great success in its efforts.
Students began collecting donations back in September. They sold 30 daily spaces on a calendar for the month of September. There were also five free spaces for the students to fill.
Each day of the calendar could be purchased for the value of the date. For example, Sept. 1 cost $1, the 10th was $10 and so on.
Each supporter who purchased a date was able to gain 1 entry per dollar donated into the prize pool.
Then a drawing was held for a chance to win an iPad Pro, a magic keyboard, Apple pencil, and screen protectors. The winner was selected at random from over 20,000 entries.
The prize went to Willie Gladney, the winner of the iPad.
All the funds raised will be used to support the MVHS B and program as the students travel to California this year. The funds will also help with the cost of expanding the music library and instrument inventory.
Ragland expressed gratitude to all who participated.
