A new flag pole complete with a bright colored and freshly-pressed American Flag were recently given to J.L. Bowler Elementary School in Bunkerville by the American Legion Post in Mesquite.

In a brief ceremony at the school, JL Bowler Student Body President Abby Dodenbier introduced the color guard. This color guard consisted of third grade teacher Erle Eaton, Navy veteran Paul Levan, and George Caughorn; all members of the American Legion organization.

The students gathered on the playground before school, recited the pledge of allegiance and sang the Star-Spangled Banner as the flag was raised.

JL Bowler Principal Chris Jenkins, had initiated the request for a flag pole. He had talked to Eaton about purchasing a new pole for the school so that students could gather to commemorate Veteran’s Day and other patriotic days.
