The Progress
The theme for the Virgin Valley Artists Association monthly competition/exhibit in February was Women Throughout History. The exhibit was sponsored by the Mesuqite Women’s History and Culture Center.
There were thirty-three entries among four different categories at this exhibit. The categories include Brush Art, Dimensional and Earth Elements, Photography and Digital Art and Drawing and Sketch.
As always, the awards night event was a fun affair with wine and other beverages served with hors d’ oeuvres. The lively background music was provided by cellist Brent Pettit and violinist Jill Laub.
The artist pieces have all been on display for viewing throughout the month of February. The Best of Show was chosen as the top work among all the categories. This month Best of Show went to Charyn McDonnell for her photo of “Visions of those Before.”
Sponsors Choice award went to Cheryl Sachse for “You Are Not Alone,” a watercolor depicting many eyes.
People’s Choice and 2nd place in the Brush art went to Rachelle Knight for her colorful “Babuysa-Mother of Ukraine.”
The Mayor’s Choice award went to Janet Trobough for “Hopi Swari” a colorful watercolor.
There was a table display of Book Art pieces from Debbie Lambin, Artist in Residence for this week.
