The annual Moapa Valley High School Reverse Dance was held on Saturday evening, Mar. 4. It was a great event allowing local teens to have fantastic time with one another.

The Reverse Dance tradition gives the girls a turn to ask the boys and plan the date for a change.
This year’s Reverse Dance was different from most. Instead of the quad or gym, the dance was held in the school’s main hallway. Parts of the hallway were sectioned off with black gossamer, leaving the rest of the space designated for dancing. There were also festive fairy lights and colorful balloons strung up around the area to add flair to the decor.

Members of the Moapa Valley High School Student Council worked hard to put together the event.
“It was so fun to watch students have a good time with one another and (all the work) paid off!” said Student Council advisor Suzanne Garlick.

The Student Council also planned a ‘dress up theme’ that teens were encouraged to wear to the dance. This year’s dress up theme was ‘iconic duos.’ Dates had to come up with classy famous partners from a movie, book, or story. Many students got very creative with this idea and there were lots of unique ideas.

Of course, the dance itself isn’t the only memorable thing about Reverse. Many students get together on group dates throughout the day before attending the dance. .

Kaelani Goodwin was one of the many students who went on a day date. Her group consisted of Monte Bledsoe, Kallin Bosch, Andrea Bell, Eryka Romero, and Marcus Shambaugh. They all went four-wheeler riding at the mesa during the day. Kaelani dressed up as a deer, and her date as a hunter, showcasing their unique “iconic duo.”
“It was super fun!” Kaelani said. “My favorite part was being able to hang out with my friends. What I liked most about the dance was all the decorations!”

Collin Sims went on a date with a group to Shark Reef in Las Vegas. His group included Allie Nelson, Grant Henrie, Elise Dalley, Stockton Davis, Sage Overson, Grace Leavitt, and Jared Evans.
“Reverse was super fun,”Collin said. “I really enjoyed the dance because I saw all my friends and partied it up!”

Laci Hillstead went to Cedar City for her day date with Mason Rawson, Andie Wood, Braden Leavitt, Haylie Western, Mateo Bradshaw, Savanna Burt, and Trent Nelson. They went sledding and then went to DI to pick out a silly outfit.
“It was a good time!” Laci said. “It was funny to have everyone watching us and giving us funny looks.”
