Virgin Valley History and Discovery Days will be held on Saturday, March 25 from 10:00 am. to 2:00 pm. at the Heritage Park at 100 N Arrowhead Lane in Mesquite. All of the community is invited.

The event promises an opportunity for attendees to “explore our history and discover yours.” The day will provide many local history activities for children, teenagers and parents to enjoy. Local fiddlers will provide live pioneer-style music at the event. Kids can enjoy a variety of early settler activities like milking a cow, horseback rides, buckboard rides, pulling a handcart or visiting with farm animals in a petting zoo.

There will be displays showing the history of the old Relief Society building, a heritage structure near downtown Mesquite. There will also be quilt displays, calligraphy demonstrations, family history booths and more.

Attendees can learn about the history of the Virgin Valley culinary water and irrigation systems, the old flour mill, branding irons, how to preserve food, how to make sourdough bread and more.

Corn hole games and other family-friendly activities will be set up for attendees to enjoy.

The Family Search Center at the Mesquite Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be open with attendants there to help anyone research their family tree.

Lunch will be served at noon with dutch oven potatoes, pulled pork sandwiches, cobbler, ice cream and other delicious side dishes. The event is free.
